Gnosticism

“If your only tool is a hammer, every problem will look like a nail.” A similar thing could be said of Gnosticism. If you understand what Gnosticism is and how it works, you will see…

God-Given Rights and Responsibilities During the Pandemic

FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS — COVID-19 PANDEMIC
The following was written by Pastor Bruce Naumann as a response
to a request posted on an online forum frequented by CLC members.

Dear Christian Friends,
I’ve been asked to provide some brief comments concerning our government’s instructions, during this time of preventing the spread of Covid-19, to refrain from public gatherings. How are we to respond to this, when our Lord instructs us to gather regularly for Christian fellowship?

The ELCA and Bankrupt Lutheranism

  • by

By Pastor Paul Fleischer, July 1989

An acquaintance regularly passes along to us The Lutheran, the magazine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). We peruse its contents, since we are not unconcerned about what is being said (written) and done in “mainstream” Lutheranism.

The contents of the magazine are indicative to us of how far from traditional (biblical) Lutheranism the ELCA has fallen. The profile of Lutheranism painted in practically every issue is more and more unrecognizable to us as deserving of the Lutheran name.

MARRIAGE PERSPECTIVES (Bible/Christian style)

  • by

The national (liberal/progressive) narrative increasingly bad-mouths “old-fashioned traditional” man/woman marriage as being stodgy and dull—while promoting the new relationship excitement between people of the same sex “uniting” in marriage. Just this week we learn that…

“Pet Blessings”

  • by

While traveling the city recently, we noticed a local Lutheran Church (ELCA) bulletin board advertising an up-coming Sunday as “Pet Blessing Sunday” in/at their church.

“…Real Ghouls”?!

To our considerable interest, an article touching on pet blessings recently appeared in WORLD

Leave It Better

  • by

Immanuel Lutheran High School, College, and Seminary, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, has a exciting new movement being promoted by students at the school.
The aim of the new movement is to provide a way for an organized group of students to show their thanks to the Lord for their Christian training by “leaving the school better

than they found it—doing so by improving, restoring, and helping to maintain the campus and its facilities.

There is strong support from the school’s faculty and staff.

475th Anniversary of the SMALCALD ARTICLES

“…The Word of God shall establish articles of faith and no one else,
not even an angel.” (Luther, SA, Part II, Art. II)

A Closer Look at the Smalcald Articles (SA) (First of Three)

1. Establishing our “Confessional” Identity

The plan is to use valuable space in our little magazine, beginning next month, with a series of articles on one of our Lutheran Confessions—the Smalcald Articles.
